A Forum for Attaining
Y2K Community Preparedness
Purpose - This electronic forum has been created by Citizens for Y2K Recovery
(CY2KR) to "jump-start" Y2K preparedness at the local level; by providing a
vehicle for the free exchange of information, ideas, and experiences. CY2KR
encourages citizens to form groups that will "educate" local government,
businesses, civic groups, and churches on the Y2K issue. The Forum, acting as a
central clearinghouse, can be an invaluable resource in the development and
refinement of local Y2K Action Plans. With time running out, we cannot afford to
have each community separately re-inventing the Y2K preparedness process. As
local groups proliferate, they will be linked to form a national Y2K Community
Network.
This on-line information exchange provides the means to quickly critique ideas
and refine suggested Action Plans. CY2KY's ultimate objective for this Forum is
to create a series of TEMPLATES that can be put to immediate use throughout the
country (and globally). The underlining premise is ... if our communities are
Y2K- prepared, we will not have to depend on any other entity for our well
being.
Forum Benefits - You can play a key role in helping your community by participating in this information exchange -- regardless of your community's current state of readiness. Here are a few examples of what active networking can deliver:
- Help in getting started ... by identifying Individuals in your area who would be interested in creating and/or "growing" a local Y2K Action Group.
- Guidelines for Organizing a local Y2K Action Group.
- Samples of Y2K Action Plans ... from the very macro to the very micro.
- Examples of "Lessons Learned" (good and bad) ... from folks who are in the trenches.
- Feedback/Advice/Critiques relative to your own situation as you move forward.
We urge you to become a "two way" PROACTIVE participant -- a recipient and a contributor.
Forum Accessibility & Protocol - The Forum is open to all -- you do not have to be a CY2KR member to participate. The only requirements are that you conduct your communications in a civil manner, and that you register for the issuance of your password.
